Someone who started off on one instrument but changed to another and no longer plays their old instrument and no longer belongs in that section hence transectional. Used commonly among the Sax family and Brass Family
Person 1: Yo you see john over there

Person 2: yeah the flute player? what about him
Person 1: He's transectional

Person 2: No way
Person 1: Yep in 4th grade he played alto sax

(noun) A singer who can move from the one part to another part of the choir easily.
The choir director must really value Steve's vocal versatility, he's such a transectional.
